camp wars questions?

1.what happens when you have a squad set for combat and a teammate doesnt show up for the scheduled time? do i get to control their car?

2. if obviously overmachted in a fight for a territory thats not really needed, do you just not show up? or can you try to run away, escaping at 350m, if you dont show up do you lose the cars in that cr setup?

3. what if both players hours for the match do not work, like both dont have same hours that are open, or both at work or something, is it automatically scheduled for the time that will be on your hours open?

For the moment, we'll allow this.  I originally said no, but a number of players pointed out that this is too restrictive.

But we will need to be very careful as this is an obvious way to cheat.

There are ways that I could probably automate a way of stopping repeat infringements. Or simply have it reported to me and I'll make a judgement and if necessary I'll reverse the result of a battle.  Maybe people have suggestions ?

2. if obviously overmachted in a fight for a territory thats not really needed, do you just not show up? like probing for new territory with minimim cr and meet a mega squad?? or can you try to run away, escaping at 350m, if you dont show up do you lose the cars in that cr setup?

3. what if both players hours for the match do not work, like both dont have same hours that are open, or both at work or something, is it automatically scheduled for the time that will be on your hours open?

Don't set a squad, and you'll forfeit the tile without any loss.

It picks a time from the defender's open hours first. If that fails, it picks from the attacker's open hours. The time will be changeable by the players agreement, the same as SCL matches.  I'm working on that stuff today.

i think if players don't show the side with missing players should simply forfeit the tile without loss.

if both sides have missing players the tile remains as it was previously (ie. if neutral it remains neutral).

or some way of warning camp owners about that player not showing up, so the one not showing up gets prevented from doing war matches?

I thought you were one of the people saying it was unworkable due to family commitments? i.e. you can't guarantee availability. So you're happy to forfeit a battle if your kids force you away?

i think i have to be... its my problem not the other players. if a battle is very important we will send Ninesticks because he is much better at the game anyway  :cyclops:

mY issue was more about allowing another player to take over for a few turns rather than run my cars. But i can live with penalties.

At the end of the day i would just roleplay these things in my head... so my vehicles had a breakdown on route and we didn't get there....there was a rock slide and our route was blocked... a giant mutant screaming baby leapt out on us halfway there and we had to go and find milk to placate him....

if more people role played their disasters they would find the game was a less upsetting and funnier experience!

you could always allow the event to proceed without the missing players car if the other player chose to?

You should be able to control your teammates cars if they don’t show. Where is the cheating here? Are we going back to restricting how many cars each gang can take? I though we decided against this? Everyone has emergencies and can’t show up, or has children issues. As an opponent, I’d much rather fight the fight than suddenly only be fighting 1 car because my opponents teammates didn’t show. Sure, during the pandemic, most people should be able to show, but after this is all over, people will have last minute emergencies or conflicts.

We're not going back to this one. We never went away from it. This is a crucial part of the design thinking to make new players valuable. It's going to be 2 cars per player.

i really wish you would make this crystal clear, i have no intrest going on discord to join discussions, i was under the impression you could use as many cars as ya want. first im hearing of this, so you can only use 2 cars if your playing alone, not many people play in shantyville lol especially new guys, wonder what else i dont know about lol

I wasn’t aware of this. This will be incredibly restrictive to camps with large CR. If we wanted to go light and throw a huge cr at a camp, we would need like 20 gangs. This is unrealistic.

Allies. Deals. Player mercs. Junior members. This is what it's all about.

As it stands then, camp wars will fail.

longo dont worry it wont fail you me and joel team up and smoke all these biznatches lol

Longo is right in the sense that at the high end of battles the car limit scales badly especially in relation to light squads, but I think there needs to exist some kind of car limit for certain. Otherwise this does actually become a feature for like 15 people to take advantage of and has no bearing on the rest of the community.

A possible compromise would be that the car limit scales with CR - at the low end the car limit could be 2 but if you are deploying 5000cr to a tile it could go up to 5 or 6 in order to stop the kind of scenario longo talked about where its 20 gangs required

Everything is tweakable, of course.
More cars per player, perhaps.
Less CR generally, perhaps: the current amount of (10*(fame+strat)) could be reduced

There is a strong precedent for the car limit - from now every time a new player logs in it will be a race for each camp owner to get them involved and on side lol.

EvE online - largely the model for this style of gameplay - has a spaceship limit of 1 as you play only one character. It makes friendships just as much a part of building your faction as training your characters or buying cars

But they don’t have to join your camp now of course they can join your camp war squad from town without messing up your storage

Rather than giving a max number of cars per player, it could be based on a CR cap per player (so, don't punish fast/light squads of small vehicles).

Maybe a flat CR per player + a percent of total available CR ?

For example
- every player gets a maximum of 800 CR but also 10% of the total CR deployed to the tile - so if it’s 5000 that brings it up to 1300 CR per player - meaning you'd need 4 players to fill it.

Then if you deploy 10000 to a tile you would get max 1800 CR each meaning you would need 6 players to fill it. That way your number of allies does need to scale with the battle size.

This makes more sense, although not perfect. Post pandemic getting people together will not be optimal.

We are implementing these numbers with the knowledge that they will 100% have to be tweaked at some stage, they are just a starting point
