I'm adding a small addition to the camp wars system as discussed previously: the distinction between Light Squad CR and Heavy Squad CR.
As you deploy CR on the map from your camp, it loses effectiveness (i.e., the CR reduces) based on the tiles you pass through.. as discussed previously. However, you'll be able to independently deploy 'Light-Squad CR' and 'Heavy Squad CR'. The light CR will reduce less over distance than the heavy CR. What it will then mean in battle is that the light CR can only be spent on smaller vehicles. It will be possible to have both heavy and light CR deployed to the same tile. Your actual battle squad will be formed from both. |

Gives two thumbs up.
The plot thickens. |

Interesting to see what constitutes "light" and "heavy"
*sam* Posted Apr 23, 2020, 3:41 pm |
Probably based on the vehicles' scout rating (which is different to bulk or weight).. it mostly reflects how good they would be at crossing difficult terrain at reasonable speed and without undue damage. I should probably refer to these as "fast" and "slow" rather then "light" and "heavy": FAST ----- Wurzel Squadcar Bullet Buccaneer Moray Landrunner Dustup Sunrise Offroad Buggy McKenzie Vampire Corghette Chomper Phoenix Cougar Turin Flash Pickup DeVille SLOW ----- Roadrunner Cadrona Semi Tractor Sonic McFly Fiftyseven Osprey Big Pickup Windsor II Pike Hotrod Two Axle Lorry Apache Carrier Van Flail Motorhome Chevalier Royal Eaton Symphony Tanker Mercenary Estate Box Van Trash Truck Marley Windsor Buzzer Racoon Hearse Voyager Moose Spirit Fire Engine Alpha Ambulance Bus Stormer I have, of course, randomised the vehicles within these lists rather than leave them sorted by scout rating. You'd expect nothing less. |

Tez Posted Apr 23, 2020, 3:44 pm |
...ok Interesting to see if the Turin is in the right section. |
||||||
*sam* Posted Apr 23, 2020, 3:47 pm |
Fast at crossing difficult terrain, not pure road speed. Wurzels can almost climb sheer cliffs. |
||||||
*sam* Posted Apr 23, 2020, 3:51 pm |
I'm certainly willing to move a few, if people think they should be moved. |
||||||
*Ninesticks* Posted Apr 23, 2020, 4:00 pm |
Purely my opinion, but I would have expected Voyagers to be up on the fast section, they're pretty good at climbing.
*Longo* Posted Apr 23, 2020, 4:04 pm |
On of the best wilderness cars in the game, how could it be slow category ? |
||||||
Tez Posted Apr 23, 2020, 4:07 pm |
My point is a Turin might be a default choice for the "fast" cars. It might make the "fast" cars more interesting if it's in the slow section.
But I have no idea what they're like in PvP, but that's just my £0.02 |

*Synyster Gates* jesse_bliss@yahoo.com Posted Apr 23, 2020, 4:08 pm |
BPU and Voyager are both decent at climbing. I can understand leaving BPU out for balance purposes, but the Voyager absolutely belongs in the fast category.
*sam* Posted Apr 23, 2020, 4:09 pm |
Certainly, gameplay reasons are a valid reason to move them, as well as 'realism' reasons. |
||||||
Grimm Sykes Posted Apr 23, 2020, 4:24 pm |
many of these vehicles ability to cross rough terrain is affected by their suspension settings. Example would be the voyager since at stuck setting it can get stuck on a peak with all 4 wheels off the ground, but raise it to 105% or more and it has no trouble,
Grimm Sykes Posted Apr 23, 2020, 4:25 pm |
Turin is one of the best offroad / climbers in the game |
||||||
Celticfrost Posted Apr 23, 2020, 9:46 pm |
Well, this list might finally make the Wurzel worth something.
*goat starer* Posted Apr 23, 2020, 9:57 pm |
box van is the best offroader in the game... it may spend 90% of its time rolling over and over but it never turtles.
Hati Posted Apr 23, 2020, 9:58 pm |
Voyager needs to be in the fast category. I routinely take them up mountains at 50
darthspanky Posted Apr 23, 2020, 11:30 pm |
PFFFT, i can turtle a box van

you have always had magical skills darth! |

Valiance Posted Apr 24, 2020, 8:31 am |
Fascinating to see Landrunners as Fast but Apaches as Slow. I'd also thought of them as broadly interchangeable

Goat said- "box van is the best offroader in the game... it may spend 90% of its time rolling over and over but it never turtles. "
Unless you are Darth, this is sooooo true. |

Joel Autobaun Posted Apr 28, 2020, 2:46 am |
is this staying? because if so, I predict the great wurzel wars. lol
*sam* Posted Apr 28, 2020, 5:54 am |
There's no ranking within the two sections, it's just randomness that has Wurzel at the top. I'm not saying Wurzels aren't a top-class scouting vehicle, of course. Or an excellent assassin's vehicle, in skilled hands ;-) |

The 30 - 50 feral hogs you demanded in payment are on their way. |
||||||
*sam* Posted Apr 28, 2020, 8:35 am |
It had better not be the lower end of that 30-50 range. Just saying. |

Why? I mean, maybe this should be its own thread entirely but... What purpose does hidden information serve from a game design standpoint? |

It brings him joy keeping people guessing about things. |
