Can't join race?

I signed up for races with 30-45 mins intervals between them. After disconnecting from the first race and entering the second, my car isn't there. Is this a bug?

no. I experienced same problems. You registered with same pilot and he was still considered busy until the first race completely ended.
That's not a bug, it's a trap... :p

A trap! heh..

If you manage to get your character out of the event at least 7 or 8 minutes before the next one starts, you should be ok. The first event itself doesn't need to have actually ended.

Great thanks! How do I get my character out? Resign?

7 or 8 minutes? so what are the last 5 minutes for? boiling water for tea? :o

definitively a trap, Sam is really afraid we won leagues... he's trying to ambush us at every corners.

Karz: yes, you can resign

Vikk: as you know, tea is an obligatory part of the Crusher's professional diet.

Event servers start a few minutes ahead of the event so everyone has time to log in and, if necessary, perform the lighting phase. Since the cars are typically spawned on the starting line at that stage, they have to be available.

Er.. I mean.. event officials need a few minutes to check that everything is in order, the engines are below the specified size, etc.

Strange, I tried registering 2 different drivers to 2 consecutive races, yet after completing the first, my car doesn't show up in the second (which is a time trial, so I assume I can join it anytime as long as the trial hasnt ended yet?)

Karz,

Can you give me the server-dates of the 2 events in question: I will check the logfiles.

Since this point has caused quite a few people confusion, something I'm going to add soon is a message to the player telling them why their car hasn't been spawned.

K right now I'm using the same driver, but I resigned several minutes before the next race was even announed

The first event is timetrial A. Time started was at 17:00:00

The second event is timetrial Y. Time started at 17:45:00

Karz-

I checked the server log for the 2nd of those two (the 17:45:00 event) and it said that your driver was still busy in the previous event.

So then I checked the log from the earlier event, and found that your vehicle but not its driver was removed from the event when you resigned...

... a bit of digging later and I found the bug. It should be ok now. Cheers :p

Hey this is Karz Master, posting on behalf of my friend. He joined Timetrial X at 2006-11-23 19:15:00, and resigned about 2 minutes before League Race A 2006-11-23 20:00:00 was launched on the server ie. about 2 minutes before the server announced it was launched. His car wasn't placed in Race A. Could you check this? Thanks!

As mentionned in the top of this forum thread, you must resign 7 to 8 minutes before a new race...

viKKing:

that's actually 7-8 minutes before the event actually starts rolling, which is when the event server starts up, the cars are spawned, and the event is 'announced' (as Karz terms it). So if you are properly resigned (and your car has actually disappeared in-game, which takes 5 game seconds) then you would expect to be ok to spawn into another event whose server has yet to 'announce' itself.

Edit:

Karz, I checked the two event server logs and Amy Rice was correctly removed from the first one. She wasn't available for the 2nd one, but unfortunately there's no timestamps in the event logs but it seems everything was in order, perhaps your friend didn't account for the 5 game seconds that still had to elapse before Amy was removed?  I will add timestamps to important things such as characters spawn/removal...

That's possible. I'll test it out a few more times and then let you know if it works!
