Darkwind
Hotkeys Improvement Script, A utility tool for less hand strain

The unmappable hotkeys have been bugging me since I started - to play efficently, you require three hands for wasd, shift-/., arrow keys and mousing targets.

Granted, you get proficent after a while but it still takes too long to mouse target every gun or trying to remember which gunners in a car on the right-click menu. I find it near impossible to recall who's in what when I have 5-6 cars rolling.

My brain rebelled from going from wasd + arrows to shift-. then mouse targeting too much. It coughed up the idea for this tool. Spent a few hours refining it for public use, squishing a couple bugs and trying to foolproof setup - so here it is.

Requirements:

Must have manage window open to use quick-target
Trust - or virus scanning if you wish to use the .exe
OR
AutoIt3 (if you want to run from the included source script)

Features include:
Foolproof setup (will work on 1280x1024 windowed by default, too!)
Handbrake toggle key
Quick target both guns to cursor at a keystroke. ( <0.2 secs )
Next/Prev car keys without the finger excercise. (Camera focus optional!)
Allows typing in combat without triggering.
Instructions in the menu with the default keys set and information.
Hotkeys can be remapped if you wish.

Known Issues:
Needs to be paused in lobby (` key by default) to chat without triggering, working on that one at the moment.
Hotkey editing is done by changing DWHKconfig.ini manually using notepad - will add this to the main menu later if req'd.
Will de-select the car if a side only has one gun - planned addition for v2 if there's interest.
If req'd, it can be added so that the manage screen closes and opens - it's good practice to have open so you don't get a surprise breach.
Also planning a switch for the car select so you can change wether it focuses the camera or not without using Shift.

Teach me to post before I completely check 'that last change'.

Uploading v1.1 shortly to fix the car switching.

It ALWAYS happens that way. I have my team double check and cross check code before I send any status to my stakeholders. That has saved my butt more times then I wish to mention.

I can't wait to check it out. I'll give you feedback once I do.

Thank you!

Why use 3 hand ? You need the mouse to click and rotate cam and the WASD for car and camera move. It's lot faster to adjust speed with mouse too...

wasd, arrows, mouse. Three hands. It's a joke and those familiar with the problem will get it. :P

You can speed up and turn with the mouse, yes, it's just an absolute git to get what you want spot on at the same speed you can with the keyboard. Precision!

I use multiple cars and using shift/ctrl . , is a pain. Since my right hand sucks at coming off those arrow keys for shift to press it, my left hand automatically hits left shift while my right hits , or . - it's muscle memory. When you end up doing it 6 times every 10-15 seconds or less, depending on car adjustments, it's annoying as hell.

Also: Because I can. It started as a handbrake hotkey and just grew, as these things do. Seeing a post about the missing handbrake key, I figured: Why not finish it off to do those things we want but don't have right now?

Grimm got it since, was just slow loading.

Pretty impressive smokey, I don't have the patience for mousing around that much. If your happy with it, carry on. This is a utility more for those that prefer to use the keyboard.
