To the rarely seen gazette reporters, please add a little variety to "The most skilled" section.
------------------------
Florence Nightingale

The most skillful large guns specialist active in Evan today is Florence Nightingale from Rogue Traders.
------------------------

While it's great to see the gang leader of Rogue Traders is still the best LG in the game, we were informed of this back in 2064 when the last "The most skilled" was done. Of the 11 skills to chose from, the same one was done both times.

Please provide your readers with more interesting/unknown "The most skilled" skilled characters, like who is the most skilled psi or hey who is the most skilled doctor etc..

Hey, be brave and put more than one in the gazette at the same time, you might get shot at less if you do. ;)

I agree, even something on some newer players guys too. It seems these fish wrap guys have got it way too easy... copy and pasting from back issues  I don't remember the last time time Morgan got props for defending the town either.

Maybe they need to add a new beat reporter to give us some updates on things going on in Evan. I would even like to see some screenshots with a brief storyline behind it. (Weekly update on a league or match between players) Always makes for a good read.

yeah new beat reporter.

You realise the rest is all auto generated.

How about SCL match of the week ?

(must be between players though, no NPC nonsense)

Some page 3 girls would be nice too....I mean, since they are gonna be the new rulers of Evan anyway once Sam gives me the keys....

It's not like I don't have enough to do around here... but I will put in my request to fill in as the New Beat Reporter for the Gazette. All I need is a little column space to work with and I will double the paper's circulation and readership within a months time! ;)

Rev's pix alone would double or quadruple readership,... hell they would even PAY!, to.. read the articles ?

You read Playboy or Penthouse for the "articles" hmmm ?

On page 148, there is the best recipe for 7 layer nacho dip...

Yeah, I didn't see that recipe either.

So when is Fifth gonna finish Brooke's tale?

And JS never seemed to finish his new gang in town story and why they changed their name.

How did an 80-100 mech end up in the gazette as a "legendary mechanic"? Is she real old or is there some other factor? My scavs can out mech that chick! Lol

Yeah, it's been commented that it's randomly picked. Why it was coded to pick weak characters and call them renowned, legendary etc..I have no idea.

I would have thought one of the those Gazette journalists could keep clicking redo/reload until it found one that actually fit the description before the gazette was published.

Speaking of Scav, it would be interesting to see stories and highly skilled characters featured in the gazette from that side of the game.

Stories of hard lives of eating road kill and drinking irradiated water soon followed by violent early deaths when the ammunition runs out before the AI's.  lol.

A bad day in Scav land:

Disaster Struck the Raging Jackelope gang. In a single scout, nearly half the gang was slaughtered. 6 members went out. None returned.

-

Killed in combat:

James "Shades" Gray
Carolyn "Recondo" Koss (Gangs 2nd best Scout)
Jodi "Deep" Fried (Gang's best Mechanic)
Joseph "Sucker" Fish

Having escaped in the clouds of smoke billowing from the 3 Jackelope Vehicles (Including their Oldest vehicle: the Pickup known as "Mashed on Zerk") the following gangers were poisoned by Scorpions on the way back to SS and died in the wastes:

Gilberto Dunn
Warren "Shrimp on the" Barbee

Poor Warren was the dedicated driver for the GEEK event and had won his gang a 4L Moray. But due to the delay in delivery, he never got to drive his prize.

the injured driver from X-Man's Darkside may not miss him, But he was shaping up to be a valued RJ member.

alas...

No offense to Splash, but I actually busted out laughing when I saw this.

This month, we caught up with Daisy Black of Coolerheads, one of Evan`s most skilled gunners.

This is the best one yet.lol

I'm waiting for the day a recruit is named one of the best gunners in Evan.

Is this a bad time to tell you I have no power in this situation?

Thanks for the coffee :cyclops:

Having a new editor would probably be good and maybe a PM to sam can tell you more if he doesn't see this. Ive not kept up with the paper for well over a year or two. Lost the time and interest. Ayjona was going to come back and do stuff, not sure whats going on there.

Other than that, if you have anything in mind, have a story or have any ideas, I (or maybe one of the others) can add them in.

I always liked the ideas of a classifieds section, services, stuff like that. Tinker had an idea for regular columns, the weather report, regular on the beat reporting of the major events, CoE, SCL.

Man, I would love to read a sports page about the leagues and such. Then there could be Op/Ed pieces about who cheated and who doesn't like whom and who said bad things about whom, so I wouldn't have to see it in the forums.

Just saw the new gazette. Nice lead story. Lol. ;)

What about adding a small op-ed piece? I like the idea of using role playing narrative discussion. A lot of the bickering that happens on the forums might be better received through the lens of a characters speech than a forum post.

For instance, my gang HATES the alley. As a human, I get it—they're playing a game just like me. As a player, I want to strip the flesh from their bones and build a chair from the remains. It would be fun to stand on a virtual soapbox and seek allies instead of inviting a name-calling contest on the forum.

By definition, no.

Of course, if someone had an opposing opinion and could string words together in a sentence, they could write their own piece.

edit: Thank you for validating my concern for discussing this on the forum immediately. Shrimp.

Just wanted to say that the current issue of the gazette is EXCELLENT! Really like the highlighting of particular note worthy things that happened and the vehicle "test-drive" is really cool. Throw in the story and the leaderboard updates and you've got an actual paper.

This is a gazette worth reading! Well done.

Cory died years ago in a horrible Eaton incident. He was reading the local rag at the time and was terribly upset about Hellrazors getting all the attention. Just 'cus they won stuff. Didn't seem fair. That's when he hit a sand bank and his car caught fire. Poor Cory.

Anyways, so now 'Tardis' got hooked on the local paper too after rifling through all 'Oxides' Back issues.

If you want to see upset, you should have seen what Monty 'Montgomery' Scott did to one my v12s after he read the latest Gazette. He was ranting on about some dude named Homer and skilled mechs in Evan.

The gazette can only keep going if you are making the news

- fill in an entry on the hall of fame and you might get a mention

- post things in the tavern

- you can even send me stuff you think is news, please don't offended if I don't response very quickly :D

I would hope to have a number of articles for each edition, so come on everyone make some news......
