The Baja is my favorite. Had one in high school, was a great car.

For our purpose it needs doors for side armor. A combination of the 2 VW would be great.  B)

Yeah, it's a great resource - turbosquid is where I bought most of our current cars. The limiting factor is that they must have less than about 2000 polygons speed, unfortunately that rules a lot of them out. Also they must be textured.

RE mutants and carts - that reminds me of Judge Dredd's Cursed Earth - a mutant horse pulling an old car with no engine. That image looks too high-poly though, the curves are too smooth.

VWs are looking really cool, not to mention textures are already ready for our game! :cyclops:

Sam, I have 3 cars I downloaded a while ago for Darkwind, I'll send them to you. I found them back, while backing-up the iMac before upgrading to Leopard.

Not that we really need another small car but I really like the Bug. I was even going to suggest it before this post came up. The Camaro does look cool too.

That's a Lada-Niva, very common here, mostly used by hunters and farmers.
Very cheap too.

A school bus and/or a taxi would be cool additions I think.

3 axle Land rover ?
2 axle flatbed truck
Banana Split 6 wheeler ( Na na na - naa nen naa na!)
Ack ack truck (Flatbed boxvan - with turret that can only have 270 degrees arc)
Fuel Tanker
Bridge laying , river fording , mine sweeping AFV.
Fast attack Vehicles ( faster on road than buggy)

Quite like to see a dedicated People carrying bus.
with 12+ seats and 3 weapon points on left and right.

I think the right of way should go to the biggest !

I strongly second the Schoolbus idea (don't know how that slipped my mind earlier!).

I also really like the flatbed truck. Which would be especially cool once we get turrets implemented :) I just have this image in my mind of a quad 12.7mm AA gun twirling around chewing up passing cars. Ahh, the fun of it all.

my favorite taxi

Flat bed would be good for vehicle recovery too. Because it's unarmored the vehicle being transported would receive damage if attacked. Also weapons from transported vehicles could be fired IE: car placed rear facing on flatbed could fire front mounted weapons to the rear of the flatbed.

There is a 3D magazine that often has models included on its disc, most of them allow for commercial usage, so that may be a cheap way to get extra vehicles. Maybe try using Moo Tools Polygon reducer to reduce the number of polys in a model?

It's dirty and cheap and low poly count.

Sam already own an Imperial Bus model, Toe is dreaming of it for almost one year.

Cheap should be understood "free", to match the game's development budget. ;)

A direct link to the models would have been welcome. Thanks anyway. :)

That's not really true, you won't get much for free. The game's development budget (not including developer time, of course, (that has never been paid for) but purely money actually spent or committed to spend at this time) runs well in excess of US$8000. I wouldn't want the impression given that we've done all this for nothing!

The vehicle models I have bought to date have cost anything up to $60 each. I wouldn't be happy paying much more than that for a single model.

That top bus is really nice though chase.. you have a link?

I was only meaning we were only looking for low cost items.

BTW, I noticed a very nice set of 3D models for an Arabian like town, with human models and vehicles (and certainly everything to be redone to have collision boxes and all), only US$1,195!  ;)

just try to please make sure the car sizes match... the big pickup looks like a ford ranger next to the landrunner
*sam*

Posted Nov 22, 2007, 3:11 pm
Yes, there's a few other sizes that are slightly wrong. I want to reduce the size of the courier van and increase the size of the sonic.

Please post any others here! I can fix them without too much trouble.
