Darkwind
Continuous fire

I read somewhere that some weapons get continuous fire bonuses, while other weapons do not. Is there a list somewhere? I'd like to update the wiki, if someone could link relevant info, or spill it.

This is the only spot in the wiki that mentions the bonus...

http://www.darkwindwiki.com/index.php?title=Using_Weapons

ALL weapons get the sustained targeting and sustained fire bonus. (Except for dropped weapons.)

edit:.. The bonus is broken when you lose targeting by turning your car away from the target.

All weapons get a bonus from continuous fire, but ballistic weapons get a bigger bonus.

(This is occasionally mentioned on the loading screen when entering an event)

Sustained fire is hugely important. If you hover your pointer over your weapon in the "Manage" screen, the "Chance of a perfect shot" notation will show you, from one shot to the next, how quickly your chances improve with each shot.

I know this is newbie advice. But it took me a while to realize the usefulness of that notation. Watching the readout, you quickly see which weapons go from "not much" to "excellent" the fastest.

even better

Under the manage screen in combat.. look for that purple line under your weapon.. the more filled that line is (starts off as white) greater your chances of hitting are

only thing that i would add to this is that the purple bar does not take into account intervening terrain that might block the shot...

Oh yeah...that can be a real heartbreaker.

Especially if you're low on ammo and you waste a "sure shot" into some terrain if you're not paying attention.....

the target lines from the car are always good to pay attention to, but don't bother if you are a goat :p they like to shoot dirt

With newbie gunners sustained fire is extremely important. To my dismay, Krak kept making me change targets constantly during a scout today. At one point I went from consistently hitting a far away target to consistently missing a target only half as far away.

DW Zen Philosophical thought:

Is it better to strike a far away foe who is no danger to me? or Miss a nearby foe who wants to spit roast me over my own burning wreckage?

While it is a good idea to take tactical advice from more experienced players early on, you don't necessarily have to follow orders. A squad is not a military unit, and you did not sign on to operate under someone else's command.

Never forget who's driving your car.

It seems that it is always a mistake to listen to Krak.

I think Krakhedd does a better job of job of role playing a post-apocalyptic ganger than most. Juan gives him a run for his money when he gets in to conspiracy theory.

But really, there should be a newbie topic that says continuous fire bonus takes precedence over orders from musicians.

Man, I need some pictures from that last scout Krack and I lost.

First pic, Krak in his landy. Subtitle: this is Krak.

The following picture, Krack bouncing all over, out of control. Subtitle: this is Krak on crack.

Third picture, (photoshopped) Krak's windy sitting on top of his landy playing piggyback with mutant rats all around and Krak's crew on top with guns drawn. Sub title: this is Krak on Krak.

Last pic, dead mutilated peds and fat happy rats. Subtitle: Doing Krak kills.
