My compy tells me that MSCVCR100.dll is missing when I start DW. Then it runs fine. Is that the mysterious "dancing girl" module I've heard about? Because I see no dancing girls in my version of DW.

You're missing Microsoft C++ 2007 or something like that, I've had that everytime I've had to re-install Darkwind on a fresh computer.

What hides behind this name is the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable which can easily be downloaded on the Microsoft website as x86 or x64 edition:
32 bit 64 Bit Usually the application that misses the dll indicates what version you need – if one does not work, simply install the other. |

Thanks, Tez and Necro. What am I missing without it, by the way?

Yeah I have had this error since new pc. Everything seem to be ok without it though, and I haven't bothered fixing it.
Any further ideas what it is to do with, and why it wants the dll but works fine without it? |

I was getting this same error as well after the server migration. The PC would *lurch* after the error message then the login popup would appear as normal.
However I was crashing so often that I decided to reinstall the client... Now I am unable to install the client at all...I've tried everything I can think of...both the autoextractor and the zip version. I get a warning that the software is downloaded infrequently and i am asked whether I want to run it with suggested vista settings (this fails) ive tried run anyway (this fails) When i download as zip the zip file is empty...any ideas? |

I guess i should point out that this rig is running vista but it was working fine before server migration.

When the server was down i decided to uninstall the client, and reinstalled it once the server was back up thinking this might sort out the missing .dll bizzo..unfortunately it hasn't...someone posted a fix somewhere but I can't find it.
The client runs OK but its crashing fairly often and I was hoping that if I did the manual fix the client might be more stable...but now I can't find the fix in the forums. Could someone bump it or repost please. |

Hmmm..weird wasnt actually what i was looking for but did it anyway despite having done it when i reinstalled recently...must work like a patch as WOOT! problem fixed...the bump i was looking for was a manual fix where you copied some file into a directory...anyway hopefully client will be a bit more stable now.
Cheerz Necro! |

I am having this issue after the client gave me multiple loading problems last night. I update Java and well as uninstalling/reinstalling the client, Twice!. I never had this DLL file issue before, but now it is a problem after the reinstall.
The client now works and has not given me a problem yet, but I have two questions on this. Do I really need to get this file if client continues to run ok? And if I do need it, what are the specific/exact steps I need to do to resolve this issue. Thanks for any help you guys can give me. |
