This patch has some new files required by two new tracks coming in Morgan (currently marked as 'on probation' until tested properly, you can use them only in custom events for now):

Morgan Lake Speed Track:

Morgan Lake Figure 8:

Both thanks again to the wonderful Mr Bastille ..  B)

Morgan Lake is permanently frozen, so makes for some slippy racing mayhem..

Uhm... the speed track has some odd insta-tire shredders on it :/

Which rock terrain textures did you use, Bastille? I'll check the 'sharpness' setting for them

If it helps, that's the spot...

Problem is that there is no way to tell at sight that it will rip your tires off in 1 turn.

Looks like darkwind/data/terrains/WinterRock.jpg ?
Yeah, that one has a high 'sharpness' currently

Well, It's fine if it shreds, but it has to be more clear that it does or it might ruin a lot of the first races, like how both me and tinker gave up after that with no tires.

Seems to be trouble with staying connected to the lobby today, 3 times the client has shut down while idle in the lobby and now and then the server seems to be going offline

EDIT: sorry about that, my internet was shut off cause my house was causing a 60 volt feedback and no one within 2 blocks could get online, and half the town was having trouble with both internet and digital tv. Service call comes on monday, till then I'm jumpered to the box outside.

Both new tracks are pretty awesome :)

No complaints except maybe they need starting/ending gates.

yeah, thats the one

heres a hint, don't drive over the rocks. You know, just a thought like.  :cyclops:

It caught me out too, was expecting damage but not that bad. Theres only a few points where the damage is that bad, and they are avoidable. Only 2 spots are really on the racing line.

I think its a really good.  :D But then I would

Them specific rocks are off the track proper too. Shortcuts with consequences! My gal's ribs are still aching after her 140mph crash into the side of the cliff.

Posted May 12, 2012, 2:19 am
Well as I said, the problem is not the fact that they are there... It's that you cant tell that they are rocks that will instashred

Posted May 12, 2012, 2:55 am
Looked pretty obvious to me, just couldn't avoid them in an eaton on the ice. They only instashred at high speed anyway.
*Bastille*

Posted May 12, 2012, 6:01 am
yeah, I went over the bunch near the start finish at 150 in a deville,... GONE! Same line in an eaton, near same speed, I was ok, just depends on how you cross the rocks I guess, weight, speed. Inside line where Tez lost his tyres was taking the corner too tight. I know the textures now, so I guess its hard for to be non biased in this issue. (the rocks are what you are looking for. Textures can overlap, not sure on the results there)

Still got sore ribs ey,

as Little Marley test to check out the rocks.

you can see where most of the problem spots are here, or how to avoid them

Venue: Morgan Lake Speed Track

Were the effects of rocks diluted somewhat?

Not so obvious? Its just two rocks really.

Can everyone find the track ok?

In the above picture, to me its most obvious that I can't drive that line, but rocks are something Ive been looking to avoid since I first drove Yellow Skies. There are patches of rock all over the place, and even semi masked patches will cause damage.

didn't look obvious to me while i was testing this with FF either, unless we are not talking about the same rocks

Ive updated this with some new markers for the track layout.

Is this easier for people to find their way now?

Hint, its a figure 8 :p

Bast, I just did a stock event on Morgan Lake Speed Track and the tyre shredding is still way out of control even when you control your speed around them.

On this version of the night track on the last narrow corner before the straight to the finish line there is a tyre shredding part that can't be avoided due to the small width of that area. Doing about 100mph I lost 90% of all 4 tyres on the first lap. 80% on that one corner, 10% on the one area you can avoid.

On the second lap I controlled the speed and lowered it to 80mph on that last corner and still lost 2 tyres. From my observation the transition from slippery to sharp makes the tyres spin up and catch the sharp area, doing extra damage. This happens a lot when I'm racing and the tyres lose grip from a bounce and then catch again on the tarmac, causing tyre damage.

So the question is, is this supposed the be a race track or a slow down to 40mph to avoid losing your tyres granny track?

Thanks for the feedback.

Ive raced here about 10 times and although have suffered damage on this section, never to what you describe. Often I can avoid it all together by going either side of the rocks.

If this is a continual problem Id gladly take a look at it as I do need to finish the other tracks for the region. Id need to get the tracks back from sam to do this though as I no longer have them.

On another track matter, have you raced GW interstate recently? I believe I have fixed the issues you described with this track.

Im not near as good as LF but i also raced it, and by the end of lap 1 of the 2 NPC drivers there was a total of 20% of 1 tire.
On my car i had 2 remaning 15% and 45%.

Could be a fun fast track with more restricted race line but tire hazored in that line never good.

Is this track full live now? that info will help, especially for the fig 8 track.

I have, but have been avoiding that area so as to not have to deal with it.

Assuming it is fixed, all that's needed now is keep the AI from doing constant loops around the gate so as to not ruin my races and put my driver in bandages.

ps: And to have Sam remove the 255 cap on medals, maybe that's an easter egg.  Maybe he did not think anyone would reach that amount or it's some hidden joke concerning IPs

Fixed that for ya, won't know what it is unless the 255 cap is lifted.

Looks like all the tracks are live.

yay! nice to have some other cars at the track. The AI can't drive well on Ice lol. Snow, not so bad, but ice, is funny. :cyclops:

I still have no issues running that track and tyre shreading though. I do get some damage, but so far, Ive not lost a tyre unless I hit too many bad spots. On the back straight, the tyre damage rocks tempt one to go outside the line, near the placed rocks (obstacles). Its an oval fast track, but there are many different lines you can run. (well, at least thats the idea)
