Those guys are based in the UK. Anyone know how they managed to get a KS account? If we find out how, maybe we can use Kickstarter instead of Indiegogo. There's still quite a bit of distrust against Indiegogo on the communities I frequent.

Like I said in the other thread, someone in the US did the paperwork to set-up a US wing of their company for them to run it trough.
Sam could probably do the same if someone was willing to do the paperwork on the US part of it. |

25K in a day, pretty good start. Especially since there is a meaty demo for potential pledgers to look at. I suspect it will start doing better as time goes on. Certainly break that 50k mark easy.
I actually pledged $200 for my love of X-Com and because the 200 tier was REALLY awesome!!! Get your on picture and name in the game, submitting my military service picture in uniform! FYI Sam only thing I love MORE than X-COM is Car Wars, I would easily be pledging the same for Dark Wind. In fact Steve Jackson is in flight to do a Car Wars Kickstart for the *cough* boardgame. So i think this is a ideal time to get in the mix with Darkwind. I was actually the person to suggest to Chris to go with Kickstarter and offered suggestions along a similar line on how it might be done, even offered to help if he wanted. Looks like he found someone though to do the paperwork. Sam, I offer that to you as well if you dont already have someone in mind. |

Awesome and the demo is nice! and works great on mac with Wineskin Winery
Karz Master Posted May 10, 2012, 7:26 pm |
^It is, isn't it? My 10-yo brother and I really had a blast with the demo. It's his first time trying an X-COM type of game, but he enjoyed it a lot.

A lesson to carry forward, is that xenonauts was unprepared for the speed of which they funded. They didnt have any ideas of effective stretch goals.
The ones they came up with caused some blowback and the funding is slowing to a trickle as a result. This is something you may want to do cursury preplaning for Sam and avoid the same kind of blowback. The discussions on quartertothree and xenonauts detail the blowback and what could have been done to avoid it. Although they did reach the 1st stretch goal of 75K so not horrible |
||||
Karz Master Posted May 18, 2012, 5:14 pm |
Yeah the stretch goals didn't really work in favour of their funding. Plus I would have really liked to see crouch-crawling, instead of tilesets. I'd already expected Xenonauts to not have motion detector and prox grenades, but really, no indoor bases was a complete surprise.
Ender Card Posted May 18, 2012, 5:34 pm |
Boy, did they detail that WRONG on the kickstart page. To clarify... the base attack of aliens bases and being attacked are IN. What the stretch goal for indoor missions is talking about is clearing a building or mall of aliens (which i think is REALLY cool), sort of like some of the Xcom Apoc missions.

Oh. OHHHHHH! Holy crap did I botch that one up :P
Is anyone else pledging for the physical copy? |
||||
FireFly Posted May 18, 2012, 6:25 pm |
I might have, but I've already bought that preorder since half a year back
Ender Card Posted May 18, 2012, 8:29 pm |
You can apply that pre order to upgrade to one of the more meaning tiers if you want. Such as the art book or whatever. I plopped down 200 to get my face rendered and name in the game...going to use my service picture
Karz Master Posted May 18, 2012, 9:26 pm |
Yeah that's really tempting. I don't mind having mine in there too, if I were just that little bit richer |

Great year for turn based games, at last! Lets hope this a return to the turn based tactical genre and we see alot of new games and hopefully new IP's. I for one am looking forward to this, Wasteland 2, Shadowrun Returns and Firafax XCom game.
Now if Sam gets DW 2 up and running, well it's turn based heaven, something I doubt any of us would have believed a year or so ago. |

Not until ex-Sir-Tech employees come together to make a successor to Jagged Alliance 2! Damn, but if that game isn't the perfect TB tactics game, then I don't know what is. |
