Darkwind
Media v.108, vehicle model tweaks

*sam*

Posted Dec 8, 2011, 5:00 pm
This is the first of two or three patches which moves weapon mount-points (generally raising them, on smaller vehicles) and re-scales certain vehicles based on the detailed calcs. made by Bastille.

These vehicles are in this patch:

Hotrod
Alpha
Royal Eaton
DeVille
Vampire
Symphony
Pickup
Sunrise
Stormer
Phoenix
Moose
Fire Engine
Windsor
Windsor II

If any of the above give problems, let me know..

Will this mean existing skins on those vehicles don't fit?

No, skins won't be affected. The paint magically stretches or something.. :stare:

When this patch hit, I took out Downtown and Borris (two of my fav windsors to check the size). Wish id waited till morning, Im now short two Windsors and two veterans.

Did it have 4 blown tyres? Also heavy chassis damage can contribute. One of the things that happens is that the suspension gets looser and looser

You know, It's sad to hear that because while it sounds cool, no DW player ever kept chassis around that long when they got damaged :(

Noticed the symph's rear weapons are sticking out the top oddly

I'll tweak the symph's rear guns again in the next batch.

Regarding the pickup.. that model was actually made somewhat larger, but its wheel size and suspension length were unchanged. Let me know if any resized models cause trouble with their wheels/suspension!

TEC was concerned about his fire engines after the size change, the thought they were tilting toward the back, higher in front and lower in back...

I have not noticed the FE... nor that the pu looks odd in any way. (*see below) It not really that noticeable, but I think it looks better next to other vehicles now.

EDIT: Are the wheels on the PU and susp length maybe a tad small now? I might agree there sam.

I made up some templates a while back for comparing sizes, I believe they are saved for public use.

The FE looks much better, as does the Moose, Stormer and the Windsors.
Mounts on the rear of cars; If they are positioned too high, weapons like the rocket booster could look odd. (love that Rocket Booster)(bracket just for the sake of it) (TAC:Vehicle size compare 2 for reference)

LF says, and I agree that the wheels on some hot cars and the Motorhome would look better as the cobra style rims? is this something that can be thought about while changing sizes, is this something that is even wanted?

Suspension lengths and wheel sizes fixed in the database to reflect model size changes:

- pickup
- vampire
