* The camera now pans when you move to edge of screen (like in RTS games)
* I'm adding the ?Internal spread' factor to weapons. The flechette gun is the best at this, but also MGs, shotgun, flamethrowers and all explosive weapons have this effect somewhat. Essentially it means damage will tend to be spread around more between the components/characters inside the vehicle. Something else that occurred to me with the the flechette gun: don?t forget that hitting weapons will soak up flechette hits very easily, so you can?t necessarily score big personnel damage as soon as armour is gone on a side: you need to check if there's weapons on that side too. |

Sam, is there any option to switch this off. It doesn't play nice with OSX's expose or playing the game in windows whilst adjusting my playlist in Pandora

There isn't an option right now, sorry. But I'll add one.

Splash: I have made this change in the latest patch, but I haven't made it a compulsory engine patch, since this is the only thing changed there.
So, to get the update immediately: open /darkwind/client_params.txt and change engineVersion: 72 to engineVersion: 0 Then re-run the patching program. This forces it go get the latest engine. In-game, open 'Preferences' and you'll see a new option at the bottom, which allows you to disable the camera auto-panning feature. |

I'm not a big fan of the auto scroll. I play at work (shhh don't tell anyone) so when I minimize to race and then come back I'm no where near my car and have to search for it. I've also noticed when I use my car control window (I keep it lower left corner) the screen will scroll. I'd prefer to be able to turn this feature off myself.

CptHowdy: yes it's implemented but you need to manually force an engine patch (see my post above).

Flechette gun: well at least its 20 bulk now so I don't have to rely upon it, but I have yet to see a hit with it. Its a very limited use weapon since its very rare for a weapon to die on the first shot, and more than likely whatever weapon you use to break the armor is going to wreck everything inside anyways if the last shot brought the armor down. I hope that when the flechettes do finally hit, that its like the hand of god giving the occupants a <female dog> slap, because right now its just not worth the time. The vehicular shotgun on the otherhand is a little more versatile and usable in combat. Internal spread: haha i'm not sure I like this, but only because my CCs are gutting everything now. Of course compounding this is that the FGs work only in a limited situation means that anything needing a second shot from a CC after armor penetration is toast. CC / VS works well though. I guess i need to work on my self control when firing ![]() |

xander Posted Sep 19, 2007, 11:31 pm |
Did you have a flechette do any damage then? I emptied a whole clip on an armorless side, and nothing at all ![]() |

Kelaparan Posted Sep 19, 2007, 11:42 pm |
no none, but i think a partially damaged weapon was there (left side of enforcer). Its too particular to use right now, that in a firefight when you are trying to even the odds quickly, its not very useful. Maybe when things calm down and actually have the time to maneuver for one side (while getting shot) it might be useful for salvage. But right now the VS does more or less what its supposed to do - does damage to internal components enough that a damaged weapon won't stop things, and enough spread that it is likely to hit crew. |

It'll probaly be great against ground troops when that gets in.
CptHowdy Posted Sep 27, 2007, 6:28 pm |
is the flechette gun working properly yet? thanks.
*sam* Posted Sep 27, 2007, 10:07 pm |
I have just toned it down so it's less extreme. It's now only slightly weaker than the vehicular shotgun against armour and not too much better than it against soft targets.
Seiler Posted Sep 27, 2007, 10:44 pm |
Yeah, it's working well now.
