This patch adds the main DW:Scavenger functionality.
There's a few things I didn't get around to yet, and there's probably a bunch of bugs in there.. which is why it's going to be available to only a few beta testers for a few days or so. It's also possible that non-Scavenger players might experience a few bugs - please post them here and I'll deal with them ASAP. Looting of handweapons was added as part of this, for all gangs. |

"Received 17 x water as an event prize"
Basic Combat Event, First place Price... Seem a bit high to anyone? |
||||||
*Tango* Posted Aug 26, 2011, 5:38 pm |
water is the most worthless item in SS, I don't really think it's too much. |
||||||
FireFly Posted Aug 26, 2011, 5:41 pm |
In other news, the first scouting event... S384884 Taking down a Blitzer and crescendo with just a rented antagonist (no reloads) in a dogfight was quite... exiting, won on the last bullet |
||||||
Rokkitz Posted Aug 26, 2011, 5:45 pm |
I disagree with Tango. It seems like a bit much.
Consider that there are no camps, so no produced water. This should be scarce in the wasteland. I still would love to see that people looted their resources than won them. I would rather have townevents yield rare but useful things, such as 1 mag CC ammo to the winner, 2x water or food to the runner up and 2 MG mags to the 3rd place. Consider that each player will be able to play quite a few town events per evening and yield lots of prices. If you get 17 water for one, then youre set for weeks. |

lets post it up in scavenger section FF
Lord Foul Posted Aug 26, 2011, 10:47 pm |
I have not been following the original scavenger thread much, so this may be a stiupid question as I'm a bit confused. Water and Food has been bugged outside of camps ever since they were added as a needed resource and I'm pretty sure there is still a mantis case for this from a few years back. So my question is if water and food are working for scavenger since it is a needed resource to survive, has water and food been fixed for regular darkwind? |
||||||
FireFly Posted Aug 26, 2011, 10:49 pm |
(I was under the impression that you simply didn't "Need" food/water to survive in regular DW... you'd just get radiated as a punishment) |

**moved to discussion thread**
Lord Foul Posted Aug 26, 2011, 11:36 pm |
Yep, def need it as you are charged each week for it and if you don't have the cash your guys suffer. I pay 25k each week to feed my gang and can't use my own food/water to feed my gang and must pay whatever the town decides to charge me based on current supplies. |
||||||
FireFly Posted Aug 26, 2011, 11:41 pm |
I'm under the impression that it can be lethal in Scavenger, but we'll have to wait for sam to hear that. |
||||||
Zephyr Posted Aug 27, 2011, 1:09 am |
I am looking forward to trying my hand at Scavenger. Also, the looted hand weapons are a nice touch.
*Bastille* Posted Aug 27, 2011, 3:38 am |
good question |
||||||
*sam* Posted Aug 28, 2011, 10:52 am |
Has anyone seen ped weapons/ammo in loot yet?
FireFly Posted Aug 28, 2011, 12:25 pm |
Nope, I'm pretty sure tunker havent either...
Actually, out of all my scouts so far (8) I've only seen any ammo at all once... |
||||||
*Tinker* Posted Aug 28, 2011, 1:46 pm |
i haven't but only had 3 successful scouts but as far as ammo, i'm sure if you hit the ai quickly before they reload, there will be more chance from the get go FYI the scout where we found ammo (6 mml, 2 mg) was from a trader gang |
||||||
*Tinker* Posted Aug 29, 2011, 8:26 am |
after a bunch of scouts with FF sunday we scored some regular ammo, but still no ped weapons or ped ammo
*sam* Posted Aug 29, 2011, 1:37 pm |
OK, I think I found this bug.. hopefully they'll start appearing now |
||||||
d0dger Posted Aug 29, 2011, 11:18 pm |
looted 2 rifles and 2 rifle ammo just now, although my looted rifle ammo is listed as 2 bulk and the ammo in my lockup is 1 bulk?
Rokkitz Posted Aug 29, 2011, 11:21 pm |
Noticed same bulk issue as Dodger. Can also confirm that I looted a crossbow and ammo. (think the same bulk issue)
Edited: I also noticed that it is impossible to reload one-shot rockets in Scavenger since ammo does not drop. Will be less useful if we need to reequip instead of reload cars every scout. |
||||||
*Tinker* Posted Aug 30, 2011, 1:54 pm |
Someone said you had to kill peds to get hand weapon/ammo is that the case?
d0dger Posted Aug 30, 2011, 2:45 pm |
I had some deaths I'm pretty sure, but I think they were all still inside the car.
(EDIT: Checked the 'my events' list and it did show two enemy casualties for the event.) When my vehicle arrived at the camp it was travelling to the bulk looked correct, so I think the bulk issue is limited to the loot window somehow. |
||||||
Rokkitz Posted Aug 30, 2011, 3:30 pm |
When I looted a rifle with ammo I did not manage to take both with 3 empty bulk in the car. So even if the issue is only in the loot window it is still affecting looting.
FireFly Posted Aug 30, 2011, 3:54 pm |
Sam already said around the forums (Twice on my count, but to lazy to find the quotes) that there is a chance to get handweapons off dead gangers.
Either way, yes, want their weapon you'll have to kill them and "Maybe" their weapon will spawn, there is a chance but not a definite. And before anyone says it does not make sense that you cant take the rifles off surrendered gangers, remember that they aren't taking your either, and without them any loss is certain death. tldr, You'll have to kill lots of gangers if you want a gangs worth of good handweapons. |
||||||
*Tinker* Posted Aug 30, 2011, 4:04 pm |
that makes perfect sense
Juris Posted Aug 30, 2011, 4:10 pm |
Makes sense. Looted a rifle and crossbow (and some ammo for both) in a normal (non-scavenger) trader hunt in SS - lots of dead enemy gangers. I don't think anyone got out of their vehicles. Good change for newbies, I think. |
