Over-car/over-ped text shows username rather than gangname if that’s what you’re viewing in the Players list (F9 to toggle between them)

Burning sounds are now played by vehicles that are on fire. This gives a good indication of fierceness. I have also added the descriptive text (‘burning merrily’, etc.) to the pop-up info you get when hovering over a car

Thanks Sam!

(Now when do we get text haloes for the over-car text?)

I always chuckle a little when i see burning merrily... must be an irish thing

Heh. Not exactly an Irish thing, but it's definitely tongue-in-cheek. A fire you have at home in a fireplace burns merrily, a car doesn't :cyclops:

I dont know sam, a car burning merrily could make for a nice wasteland campfire, dont you think?

I mean, a symphony chassis has less value than fuel and burns bigger

Yup. Last Symphony I saw burning I wanted to break out the marshmallows and weiners.

AI probably shouldn't be affected by the change. I have to use peoples gang names in the sidebar thing now cos seeing NPC above every NPC makes me a quivering ball of manrage.

Thanks Sam!

Agree about NPCs. Also, I don't think this identifies if a player allows another player to take control of one of his/her vehicles. For example if a player brings four vehicles and lets a player who only brought one control one. Best if done on a per vehicle basis rather than on a per gang basis, but this is a good start.

I agree about not having this change affect the NPC vehicles.
I can live with it, but I's rather have the gang name for the NPCs listed instead of just "NPC".

But that's a minor quibble.

As always, thanks for the improvements Sam!!!!

This is a concern

I kinda wish the hover text could be independently set.

I don't usually care how far away the friendlies are but I always care how far away the enemy is, nor do I care what their gang name is--- they are all 'enemy' to me on a scout. If I had my way on scouts I'd set the hover text thus:

Friendlies:
Status
Name
Speed

Enemy:
Status
Distance
Speed

Of course, I recognize that this is a non-trivial request.

The burning sounds freaked me out a bit when I first noticed them! lol

The "NPC" thing is handy in deathraces, so that I don't accidentally target and repeatedly fire on the Player I just made a Truce with.

Something been done to factions? All of a sudden factions have opinions about me, which is odd as i do very little...
