This patch expands the lobby 'monitor town gates' function so you can now monitor all towns at once.

Also.. it drives slow, it's tough as nails, it climbs 75 degree inclines.. I bring you: the Wurzel!

Many thanks to wolfsbane for converting this model, and skinning it too!  B)

Can we make one of these as a NPC Trader vehicle found in the SS/Elms area? Because you know the pirates up there would hit farms sooner or later.

Posted Jan 17, 2011, 9:04 pm
They certainly should be fairly common in the north, yes.. I can't see the NPCs using them effectively though.

"tough as nails" = tougher than an apache?

It would be nice if these became a slow poor man's landy/apache

Actually, 30 points per side, buzzer strength armor...

Just dont should hallelujah till you see how fast they are

How much space do they have? They could be okay as lobber or sniper vehicles in an npc design.

220 bulk 90 unexposed engine, I believe.

4L 2 Crew, 2xHMG rear with reloads and crawl away as fast as you can....

....how bad could it get?    :stare: :o :(

Wonder how it handles high recoil, it's a bit tall and all.. But it could be made into a viable (although snaily) sniper build maybe..

Shame he forgot about the front axles! :cyclops:

I didn't forget about the front axle.  Someone forgot to check the right box when they imported the model.  Naming no names, of course :)

One of these as a sorta-Polt (HMG/RL would be a nasty bugger to face.

Waaaaaaaant.

How maneuverable are they? (I'm guessing not very.)

Very nice updates, on both counts. Can't wait to get my hands on a Wurzel and test it out.

I'm thinking if it's good with inclines it might do well in the extremely hilly areas down south... perhaps as a marginally mobile firebase bunker using CGLs (not big enough for mortars) that can crawl into a spot where the enemy can't get to it.

When it travels, does it still use the standard 30 MPH inter-city travel time?

if they are indeed Common, how ong will it take for Wurzers to start appearing in shops?

Wurzel added to Table of Chassis in the Wiki. :)

Just needs armor points data.

So tough as Nail's, but with a top speed of about 35mph with a 4L on flat ground, it won't be escaping anything. lol

I don't expect to see many players joining a deathrace in these too, unless they don't want to win or live. Assuming you'll be able to put the time aside needed just to do a deathrace at 30+ MPH around a track. Assuming you live long enough, it will take you in the area of 30 minutes just to do a deathrace on northern speedway, just think how long it would take on the much longer tracks. lol

in fact, we did a Deathrace in Haymakers - Wurzels with FOJs and MMGs - they're fun. CHAOS on the track!

Yeah, I noticed someone created an event.  ;)

I'm sure it's chaotic and fun blasting each other at low speeds, but as I mentioned you would not join one to try and win, just cause fun chaos. Just like the "Boxer" box van deathraces, few join them to try and win, just blast the crap out of everything. :)

I want to see someone use one in a scout/travel to see if the armor outlasts the weapons fire as you have to fight what spawns at slow speeds..

I want one for the wilderness for precisely that reason. Because I always fight my battles at 80MPH, and I think there's room for something slow and heavy.

Now that we have a high horsepower low speed vehicle we need something for it to pull! Trailers and tow chains are next right Sam?

I liked playing in the event! I am proud to be the first official death in a Wurzel too =)

Thanks Sam!

Two things though;
1) I would like them have only one front weapon slot. it would make it a bit different, and also quite logical given space on the front.

2) I would like to see an arena combat (tractor destruction derby type). 4L wurtzel with rocketbooster, Re-ram (and spikes if they still have two weapons). It would be quite safe given the speed limitations on these beasts...But still enjoyable.

Just ran into one of these in a scout, and it can hit 60+ downhill on sand dunes with a 4.0l pretty quick. I'd like to see what it can do with a 5lV12.

So as long as you don't scout in only dune buggies, you're pretty safe from these things. Not sure how these would ever be a threat in a scout unless they spawned in an ambush 60m in front of you. As long as you're moving away they'd always be the last one to join the battle. lol

Wiki needs comfirmation for the Wurzel's chassis weight and the number of seats for those who have one. Some people are saying the information on the Official Chassis Types page is incorrect.

Posted Jan 20, 2011, 12:59 am
Yeah, only has 2 seats total.

The official chassis page is actually a direct read from the database, so it can't be wrong ;)
