Weapon skills?

I've noticed that many of the weapon's info says they use Gunnery. Even rockets and such. Is this true or does the descriptions just need an update?

No, it's correct. The gunnery skill is used for all weapons with low-to-medium recoil. Large guns skill is for high recoil weapons.

Does the Ballistics skill use anything?

I've noticed that many of the Rockets's info( in instructions) says they have 'excellant' accuracy at long range. I am begining to doubt this.

When it says 'excellent', it means the accuracy degrades only slowly over distance. But it starts from a position of only being reasonably accurate in the first place.

So an MG for example has good accuracy at short range (due to its spray effect), but the accuracy degrades faster.

I'm always willing to tweak weapons, as you know, but evidence needs to be carefully gathered and discussed first - there's a lot of factors involved so you can't draw conclusions from a small number of battles. I often see comments about weapons which make good sense, but I also often see comments about weapons that I know can't be true, due to my deeper knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes..  ;)

It's not the weapon i am critica of - RLs are groovy - they mess up small cars great.
It's the description that I am querying , Vikk. #

Do you personally think that an RL is an excellent long range weapon ?

Hmm I have another question about ballistics - is it grouped with the other gunnery skills so a gunner/large gunner is semi-good at shooting artillery weapons too?

No, not at the moment. I thought they were sufficiently different.

Yeah they're quite different I guess, but in terms of gameplay there's only 2 weapons you can use with ballistics which makes it a difficult choice to train members in it compared to the other weapon skills.

That's true, but the ballistics skill will also be used for stand-alone pieces of field artillery, when we have them.
