This patch adds a nice new feature: player-uploaded 'Scenes of Evan' pictures. You'll find a new option on the Suggestions page (for subscribers only) that lets you upload screenshots and specify the map that they're from.
If they're good enough, I'll validate them and then they will dynamically patch into the 'Scenes of Evan' slideshow in the game client, and will also sometimes be used as the event loading screen background image for that map.
Uploaded images must be either 400x300 or 800x600, jpg format, max filesize 250kB. Please avoid GUIs, damage text etc. as much as possible in the image as it will otherwise likely look poor when reduced in size for the slideshow.
edit: I have just made it so you can click on any "Scenes of Evan" image to set it as your background image in the lobby

Very nice feature!
Ah, the irony, that I just formatted and lost 1 GB of saved Darkwind screenshots, including one where a phoenix was lifted several meters into the air by seven different rocket launcher attacks during one of the famous mass scouts.

How long (roughly) will it take for screenies to be put into the game after being submitted? - assuming they are good enough to be displayed.

Same as car skins, it just waits until I next log in and check them to sign them off.
I'm gonna be fairly stringent with quality though as they lead to a mandatory download for everyone in the lobby

Are there any you'd like me to upload Sam that are already in the scenes of Evan thread or do you already have all of them downloaded from before to add as you go along?
Also, if anyone would like me to upload a specific photo from the scenes of evan thread to the client so you can use it as a background image, please let me know.

Any chance it could support 1920 x 1200?
Also is it possible to have an option for a plain background again? and the option not to have the scenes of Evans? Asking because all the pictures pixellate from being blown up on a 1920x1200 screen

Thanks for uploading some pics, guys. I rejected several because I didn't think they were very good - chaotic scenes of carnage generally don't make good screenshots. There needs to generally be some nice scenery and/or fairly large vehicles in the shot. I'm hoping to keep up LF's high standard. I have validated several too so you should see them coming thru in the game client.

Unfortunately the website it way to picky about the size and 99% of my photos are not exactly 800x600. Trying to resize and cut pieces out on each one to perfectly match 800x600 would take ages. I also notice all my photos are in hi res and are above the 250k max size allowed, so even if I manage to resize a photo down to an exact 800x600 the file size is still to big and the website says no.
The populated towns also won't work, sorry guys.
Sam, since you've already used many of my photos in the scenes of evan and they were not 800x600 it might be best for you to do what you did before and add them manually if you see ones you like. Or if you can accept up to 1900x1200 I'll be able to do upload without issue.

I was going to offer to do them for you in photoshop, if you were stuck
edit: actually some of them look a bit too squashed in one direction.. I intended for them to be cropped rather than distorted to fit the 800x600 size.. let me know if you want to email me a bunch and I'll fix them up

Yeah, forcing an image from 1200 down to 800 did squish some of the photos. Cropping might work, but it could turn a great phot into just a meh photo.
Do you want to just grab the ones I have in the scenes of evan thread and go from there or send you a few hundred photos at a meg or so each? lol

The trick is, first you scale them so that either your width is 800 or your height is 600, whichever makes the other dimension greater than or equal to the correct value - THEN You crop. That will lose the least detail.
So, for example, if you're running in 1920x1200, then you have more horizontal pixels than vertical, so scale to 50% (960x600), and then crop what's left to 800x600.

Just a quick reminder/suggestion to those that submit photos to Sam.
Please move your mouse arrow out of the way before taking a picture.
I see multiple photos that Sam approved with the mouse arrow in the middle of the picture. It's the first thing I see/look for whan looking at a photo for the first time. It can turn a great photo into just an ok photo if you have a mouse arrow floating about in the scene.

I have this on so many of my screen shots. I try and be really aware to move it out of the way now. A good TO always helps line up that perfect shot and get everything off the screen.
I recently used a car I had not used for months, with one of the first skins I made. I had pasted a screenshot over the vehicle(forever yellow skies sunset shot). On the front right quarter panel there is a great fat mouse arrow. Oddly I had never noticed before {damn mouse arrow}.

Not sure what it is, but I turn it off everytime I log in as well (since before the new scenes were added even), and have had the same 'oops' misclick and then get stuck with a background I didn't want.
