This patch changes the way that vehicles burn and explode: they will now not unexpectedly go out while burning fiercely.
On each turn, a burning vehicle has a chance of burning more or less fiercely. Each active character in the vehicle improves the chance of the fire decreasing. The presence of explosive weapons, flamethrowers etc. in the vehicle makes it more likely to not only catch fire, but also for the fire to increase in ferocity. Cars will generally burn for longer than before, but explode less often. They can once again explode at very short notice, but only if burning at least moderately. Explosions will be larger if the vehicle has a lot of ammo and fuel in its tank or in cans. The patch also adds Ganthor's excellent new character face sketches to the in-game GUIs. Thanks again Ganthor! |

Awww-right! Also can we get a list of which weapons are explodey? Flamethrowers obviously but what about rockets? |
||
*sam* Posted May 12, 2010, 12:35 pm |
Flamethrowers, rockets, missiles, flaming oiljets, grenade launchers, mortars, mines
FireFly Posted May 12, 2010, 1:05 pm |
You should probably add Car cannons and ATG's to that list, since their ammo is quite... splodey'
*Tinker* Posted May 12, 2010, 1:06 pm |

I'd like to petition that the Tanker be safer from explosion than any other vehicle with a 550 tank. Perhaps twice as "safe"(or half as dangerous when on fire).
The whole Idea with a tanker is the reinforced tank will explode less often....surely less often than a regular 550 tank on a Lorry. |

Actually, the fuel in a vehicle doesn't currently contribute to the chance that it will explode, or the severity with which it burns, merely the effect when it does explode. |

Every fire I've seen so far goes out the same turn it starts.

Had one blow up last night, very nasty.
An apache that was close by(maybe 30m) when the explosion occurred took heavy damage to top armor and minor engine damage. I'm sure if peds were close to an explosion like that, they probably would have been killed or lost a few body parts. |
