Hi Sam!

I have a question how you handle the data of cancelled accounts/subscriptions? What happens if my subscription time is used up and has not been renewed?

This question isnt very interesting for people who just want to stop playing Darkwind (but we know that wouldnt happen at all...), but for people who just want to stop playing for a while!

I dont know if you know Eve-online, but they guarantee to hold the data for at least 6 months, but in fact you can come back to Eve even a year later and your old account data is still there (chars, ships, stuff).
In my opinion this is a good approach to customers when they know that they always can come back and can play with their old accounts!
What do you think?

That's a good question.

At the moment in fact, no accounts are deleted but it is something I will be looking into, for inactive users. And in that case you're quite right: we should only delete those that are inactive and who have not subscribed in the last year or so.

The other issue though is that without an income, your gang will run out of money and start to starve. You can of course continue to play as a non-subscriber, and you won't lose any of your vehicles etc.: it will be usable again when you re-subscribe.
